The geranium leaves are coated in a paint made from fine silver powder and a binding agent. They are then heated in a kiln to around 900 degrees C, this makes the leaf burn off and the binding agent evaporate away. What is left is an imprint of the shape of the leaf and its veins in fine silver.
Fine silver (.999) is used for the leaves as it has extra shine and is tarnish resistant. Sterling silver (.925) is used for the findings and the chain.
